I think static star destroyers are fine. If I can fly my tie inside the hangar and dock, I'm happy. Star Destroyers should also have access to the bridge. In the bridge, players can man cannons, or even control doors on the destroyer. These doors could be for the hangar bay or a blast shield type door that gives access to the bridge.
If we sacrafice the ability to drive it, we need to give the players alot of other things to do with it.

Yeah we should defintely have the bridge from the movies IMO, where people can control the turbolasers and stuff. But I don't think it should be static. Like I said before it should move on its own or be AI controlled.

Like I said before it should move on its own or be AI controlled. I like along the lines Vader was thinking. I would probably have preferred that the ship stay as a map, though not a whole map. We could indeed make the map moveable, without someone driving it per-se though. I would have had maybe one person do 3 or 4 controls at once (at kind of a compter terminal), maybe controlling the pitch of the craft, the speed or the direction, and have people control maybe 5 or so turbolasers at a time. I believe this would be handy as well if we had the stardestroyer be a dockable map, where rebels doing a flight run attack from their ship could dock inside the SD and try to take control. If my idea of control terminals doesnt work in the end, maybe have the ships continue set paths throughout the map so it changes up the situations of attack and defence in space. Think of it like the space maps in Battlefront 2, but with the ships constantly moving, and full access to an actual bridge and other controls (maybe like a shield generator that rebels can power down) and stuff.

But if u use 3 people to control ship, u have 3 people less to use turbo laser.
Im noneone here. but...
For what we want to move that huge ship? There are some other smaller ship in starwars world that can move easy and have the chance to do something.
I think best can be assault and conquer map. Rebels assautl and try to conquer the ship. One big ship, with few flags. Big and smaller rooms, lift and soo on. ANd lots of smaller ships, from both sides.
Space map with a main battle.

Map size may not be a problem. If there's no terrain players will be able to fly out of the maps as far as they want. Just remove the damage done by leving the combat zone. This will mean HUGE space battles with unlimited space unless you can actually fly into the sky dome.
We need to test this.

Would it lag much if you turned the view distance fairly high for space? Thats one thing I hated about Galactic Conquest space maps. You couldn't see crap a few hundred meters out.

i will answer this once we are closer to creating a space map

It's hard to answer that because we haven't tested anything with maps yet. I think we should be able to because there won't be as many objects in space as there would be on a map like Gulf of Oman. The trees, buildings, terrain, and anything else you can imagine.

Yeah, I sure hope its that way. You should be able to see a freakin Star Destroyer 300 meters out.
